Notes
Several important things to note this month. First, a leftover Hetzner expense, this should be the last one. Second, a much higher than usual AWS expense, this was caused by me backing up our local media uploads to a offsite service. AWS charged for the large number of transactions that this incurred.
On a related note, we are no longer using AWS services for our media storage and CDN (Content Distribution Network) needs. We are now using Linode Object Storage for our media storage and Bunny.net as our CDN provider. This should lower our media storage and CDN costs going forward/
I am happy to report that we are no longer reliant on AWS services for any Ten Forward functions as I have moved offsite database backups to our rsync.net service.
Third, the full Linode expense is now in the expense list and it will also go up next month as the media storage usage gets added on. Our current income is not enough to match the expenses so I have withdrawn CA$318.53 from the TFSF fund to cover the expense. To summarize, we are in the red as far as income and expenses go.
As mentioned earlier the AWS and Hetzner expenses will go away next month so the expenses will lower but we are still going to be in the red next month unless our income increases.
If you would like to donate to us you can do so via Stripe directly, Patreon, or PayPal. Additionally, if you would like to make a one-time contribution to a defined goal you can do so via GoFundMe here. Recurring donations through Stripe are the preferred method but as always all donations are appreciated and make a difference.
I’ll also note that this is the last such report for the year of 2024 and we have completed a full year of these reports without any missed reports. I think this is a wonderful achievement.
That is all from me for now. Until next time comrades.
