Notes
First thing of note this month is that we are back to having a deficit. The one time spike in income from the GoFundMe fundraiser is no longer present and so income is limited to Patreon and Stripe sources this month and our month-to-month recurring income is not enough to cover expenses in full at this time.
Second, our Bunny.net (media CDN) expense will be be going up to US$15. Our usage this month was $11.79 which is not apparent in this particular report due to the way Bunny.net billing which is based on adding credits to the account. This month was covered by the existing credit that was added to our Bunny.net account. So I have updated the credit auto-recharge on our Bunny.net account to $15 instead of $10. Going forward that line item will be $15.
Third, I want to simplify our expenses by reducing/eliminating USD to CAD currency conversion rate variability. As such, I’ll be looking to switching vendors to ones that bill in CAD. This will be a multi-step process and will take several months at minimum and I don’t expect it to be completed until early next year.
Along those lines, I am welcoming recommendations for server hosting vendors that bill in CAD. I am currently looking at a OVH Advance-1 dedicated server which should fit our current compute needs. Our database storage usage has grown over the years to the point where a server with ~1TB of local storage makes sense to provide the required buffer room for future growth.
Recommendations for alternatives to our other vendors are also welcome, specifically – monitoring (Nodeping), object storage (Linode), CDN (Bunny.net), backup storage (rsync.net), WordPress hosting (BigScoots).
